About Taylor Tennis

Taylor Tennis was formed 16 years ago by Chris Taylor, former full time tennis player, competing at national level in events and tournaments.  Chris wanted to bring his tennis and coaching experience to all age groups and abilities.

Due to his success Andy Taylor joined Chris 8 years ago.  Andy, also an ex full time tennis player was based in Bath playing regularly for Team Bath at the University. Chris and Andy have now recruited a team of top coaches providing tennis coaching and squads for all ages and abilities.

This is a fun way for toddlers to interact and develop co-ordination skills through coached activities with parental assistance.
This is a great way to develop children’s agility, balance, co-ordination and speed.  It is taught through fun games and exercises.  They will develop movement while holding a tennis racquet.
Learn to serve, rally and score with a slow ball, as well as learning the movement and co-ordination skills needed for tennis.  Players are encouraged to play fun competitions in teams and as individuals with short matches using tie-break scoring.  ¼ sizes tennis courts are used together with soft sponge or red balls.
Develop a rounded game, learning a range of techniques and tactics.  Courts ¾ size and soft orange balls are used.  There are team and individual competitions with matches using tie-break scoring – usually the best of three tie-breaks.
Players can now put their technique and skills into practice on a full-size court with a faster green ball. These are slightly softer than the standard yellow ball.  There are individual and team competitions, with scoring extended to short sets.
The start of a budding tennis career!  After the ‘green ball’ you can now put all your techniques into play with the fastest ball in tennis – the yellow ball.  The yellow ball.  Your serve will improve in power, your basic hitting will be stronger and faster, you will be able to enter tournaments, working your way through the LTA ratings, both as a young and as an adult tennis player!
Playing on a full court with a yellow ball, players will learn to develop skills and techniques through coached activities.
Aimed at teenage players who want to develop their game in a sociable atmosphere with other teenagers.

This means you’ve never played, just started playing or haven’t picked up a racquet for years.  Sessions are tailored to get you playing the sport as quickly as possible using transition balls to aid development.  Do not feel nervous about coming the first time, you will be made very welcome.
For those who wish to further improve their technical and tactical game with a view to competing in club events/tournaments.  Players should have a sound knowledge of the rules and tactics for both singles and doubles.
Friday mornings are great!  They are the start of the weekend.  Some have a four-day week, some have treated themselves to a day off, some are on holiday, some just love Fridays….  Taylor Tennis hosts a ‘Tennis then Coffee’ morning on a Friday.  This is a basic, light-hearted, coach led session for those who fancy working on a few aspects of their game but not looking to necessarily change much; play some doubles; try some new tactics and strategies, all explained briefly so you can aim to improve your game: maybe even for a bit of fitness.  After the session, Taylor Tennis will treat you all to a nice hot or cold drink and a cake, so you can relax and chat about your new-found skills, plans for the weekend or put the world to rights.  The coffee mornings are a great way to meet like-minded people and ensure that you’ll always have a partner to play against.
This course is aimed at players who have a sound understanding of all the basic strokes and will provide an invaluable insight into the more advanced tactics for doubles, sessions may also include some singles tactics.  The sessions will involve a range of drills to improve technique and gain a greater understanding of the tactics, getting you ready for the league season.
This class is perfect if you’re looking for a fun/social/high intensity workout.  This session really tests the individual’s fitness and technical ability under pressure through a series of high intensity basket and game based drills.
If you are looking to have FUN and get fit, and something different to the gym, then this is the session for you.  A series of tennis-based drills and activities played to up-tempo music on a tennis court.  It does not require tennis skills, but is all about keeping your heart rate up, burning calories and having fun.  Whether the ball goes in or out is irrelevant as the main purpose is to get fit.
