The Club participates in the Avon Tennis Leagues run by Avon LTA. Team selection is based on ability and availability. The Club policy is to encourage as many players as possible to play league tennis. In 2018 62 members represented the Club in league teams, this was broken down to 23 ladies and 39 men. SUMMER LEAGUE
The Summer League teams play men’s doubles and ladies’ doubles. Each team comprises 2 pairs, and matches are played on Friday evenings. There are generally 6 teams in each league, and we play each team home and away. Therefore, there are 10 matches, starting the Friday after the May Bank Holiday and finishing 11 weeks later (there are no matches on the Friday of the Spring Bank Holiday weekend).
LATE SUMMER LEAGUE
The Summer Mixed and Summer Seniors will run from the weekend of August 2nd to the weekend of October 11th with a weekend off on August 23rd (Bank Holiday weekend). NB: minimum age for Seniors; Ladies: 43, Men: 45 (on August 2nd, 2019).
This year we have put in three teams: 1 mixed team, 1 ladies’ team and one men’s team. Each team plays doubles and consists of 2 pairs. Matches are generally played on Sunday mornings, or Friday evenings.
WINTER LEAGUE
The Winter League teams comprise 2 men and 2 ladies and the match includes one men’s doubles, one ladies’ doubles, and two mixed doubles. The matches are generally played on Sunday mornings, but some clubs prefer to play on Saturday, or Sunday afternoons. As with the Summer League, there are 10 matches, but they are spread over the 6 winter months.
AVON LATE SUMMER FRIENDLIES LEAGUE 2020
Avon Tennis League are running a one-off friendly league “Avon Late Summer Friendlies League 2020” starting on 31st July running until 9th October (excluding the bank holiday weekend at the end of August). They will be is using the Late Summer League slot for this friendly league.
TLTC have entered 2 teams into this league. Each team will consist of two ladies and two men; the rubbers being a ladies’ doubles, men’s doubles and two mixed doubles.
