14 b!**£^ weeks

The threatened road closure of Kington Lane (to replace a water main) has arrived.  And it isn't the 6 to 8 weeks that was initially projected, but FOURTEEN weeks.  So as from 28th June it isn't going to be possible to drive to the club from the Thornbury direction until approximately the end of September.  [...]

Carpinus Betulus

Carpinus betulus (Hornbeams to anyone without a degree in horticulture, botany or latin) are proving to be a bit of a problem for the club and the LTA.  In order to get good visibility between the clubhouse and courts 5 & 6, the hornbeams are going to have to be removed.  It is all to [...]

Broadband

You may already have noticed that for the last few weeks the wifi in the clubhouse has improved significantly.  We now have broadband (which we didn't actually have before) and a new router.  The SSID and password are on display in the clubhouse.  Enjoy.  Oh, nearly forgot to mention that we are paying over £15 [...]

Update to the Club Sessions Update

Tuesday Morning Club Sessions are set to resume.  Hopefully on the 13th.  Failing that, on the 20th.  Because of Covid restrictions we can't simply declare Club Sessions are on again.  Group activities need to be 'organised' (and documented via an Action Plan) and a Risk Assessment needs to be in place.  We want to preserve [...]

Have I Got Old News For You

Google threw up a little gem the other day, in the the shape of this article on the Thornbury Roots website.  Who knew that the club goes back a lot further than the 50+ years that we normally claim.  Do you recognise anybody?  A couple of those faces look awfully familiar. Thanks go to Thornbury Museum [...]
