The Club’s tradition of serving mince pies & mulled wine was continued on Saturday 16th December incorporating the Saturday afternoon Club Session and presentation of some of the Club’s Annual Awards. The session was attended by 25 members with 5 courts in action through the afternoon finishing under floodlights.
Adult Ambassador: Gill Harrison was previously a member of the committee, and raised the bar for social events at the Club. As Social Secretary for two years she spent many hours of time and energy organising successful social events and is a strong supporter of all events. She is an excellent baker and those of you who’ve tasted her cakes will know this very well. She’s also a valuable member of the Grounds team and spends many hours planting beautiful pots and flower beds.
Junior Ambassador: Max Pearce is helpful and very likeable, and is a pleasure to coach. He’s someone the other juniors refer to and has a great attitude to tennis – keen to play and enthusiastic. He’s fun and the coaches enjoy having him around.
Ladies player of the Season: Carole Boulton has been a solid and supportive player for the ladies’ teams. For the 2017 season she played wherever and whenever asked by the captain, and did so willingly and without complaint. Carole has played league matches for the club for many years and has been a great asset for the club.
Men’s Player of the season: Luke ‘Scooby’ Johnson played for the Men’s second team in the Summer League and helped them secure promotion. Luke made a great contribution to the team’s overall success. He played more games and secured more wins than any of the other members of the successful team.
