We entered the IYNA again this year after our amazing result last year. The team met with the judges on the 16th of July with John Brimacombe and the other hardworking volunteers showing them around. John has summarised below the efforts and how the judging went: “Thank you for all your time and effort in support of our IYNA entry, all looked very good. We had a lovely day for the judging. The judges arrived as scheduled and Gill Harrison, Phil Jones, John Harbottle and myself (John Brimacombe) showed them round the grounds, with Gill explaining all the planting and Paul (The Mundys grounds man) joining us to explain the work done by his council team. We believe that it went well. We will know our results at the presentation in Newquay on Friday the 11th October. There will be members of the Thornbury in Bloom team there. If anyone is interested in attending on behalf of the Tennis Club please let me (John B) know? Thank you again for all the work done.” The following day we received the following comments: “I would like to say a huge Thank you to you all for all your hard work on behalf of the Thornbury in Bloom and the It’s your Neighbourhood Assessment yesterday. I was delighted and very proud to be able to show the judges a great effort in the Town, and also for our IYNAs in the afternoon. Thank you to you all- your hard work is all much appreciated. We will know our results at the Presentation in Newquay on Friday 11th October. Once again thank you all for your input! Kind regards Sheila” I would like to thank all of the volunteers for keeping our grounds looking amazing all year round. We now have the result of our 2019 IYNA entry. We are very pleased to say that we have been awarded ‘Outstanding’ for the second year running, the highest level you can get, this is a great result, congratulations! Thank you to everyone, and a big thank you to the gardening team that have made it possible.
